many months ago, we bought a ticket to watch one of the preview shows of cirque du soleil tokyo (which will have a grand opening on oct. 1).
we bought the front view seats, 6 rows away from the stage. it might be costly compared to the regular view seats but it was all worth it at the end.
the preview show lasted for about 2 hours and those 2 hours were one of the most awesome
experience of my whole life.
i thought it would just be a performance of acrobatic circus acts and maybe funny clowns but it wasn't. remember how much i love the electric parade of tokyo disneyland? this performance is worth a million times than that of the parade. on second thoughts, it's incomparable.
the performance is a combination of talent, skills, arts, technology, creativity and most of all emotions making it almost perfect ( aside from the minor mistakes of some of the japanese members but of course, they're still new right?).
all the music and songs were performed live by the actors and the musicians. their costumes were so colorful and dramatic. the lights and the background were like stimulants that help in uncovering your childhood dreams and fantasy. the theater itself was so intricate and
intriguing that you know was completed after a number of years and labor. the 2 clowns at the start of the act were so funny and packed with many good acts within their pockets. all of the actors and performers had perfected their craft that made all the acts so effortless and beautifully executed. i have never seen so much beautiful acts in my life. all the elements were there and if you would just allow yourself to immerse in the show, it would be a total experience.
every time there was singing from the lady hanging from the ceiling combined with the dramatic lights, i was gone. drifted to
that fantasy world and for a moment, it seems you don't want it to end. when the trapeze performers and contortionists did their thing, i could not help but still be amazed though i might have watched those acts from youtube, because seeing live is an entirely different story. and their acts are so much in a different level because of the elements they combined with it. they are tossing the people on top of their pyramid towards the opposite people pyramid and the receiving pyramid is also tossing the people on top of the pyramid. it was like human juggling made by people on top of people. it's inevitable to clap! your hand just involuntarily meet each other and chant a rhythm. another unforgettable act is that of the string walkers. again, entirely on a different league! there was this one last act where a female and a male did rise to the stage and slowly merged their bodies to perform beautiful body shapes and positions while a song is being sung. the act might seem so easy yet you could see every inch of their muscle beating just to support the perched body on top of the other body, whose only support are the two arms steadily planted on the floor while they maintain their vertical position. it was so beautiful.
i loved all the acts and everything about it. the show ended with a standing ovation from the audience, with hoots and shouts of appreciation and endless applause for the performers which they so much deserved. hands down to all of them.

my description doesn't give justice for the show, so if you have the chance, i recommend you watch it. well, i have just seen a preview performance and i was totally blown away, what more for the full acts right? for more info on cirque du soleil tokyo, click here.
